Two full days is my honest answer. One day gives you the boat and the village. Two days lets you add a viewpoint and a wine village.
Only for a few hours a day in July and August, and only in Virpazar. Peak crowds 09:30–11:30 at the pier. The lake itself is huge — never crowded on the water
Mediterranean climate — hot summers, mild winters, unpredictable spring. July–August: 30–35°C. May–June and September: 22–28°C.
Some, mostly at dusk near the reeds. Worst July–August evening. Standard repellent works fine.
Yes — with a bit of adjustment. Choose short (2-hour) private boat tours. Bring sun cover and a UV shirt.

If you like quiet, atmospheric places — absolutely. Most operators closed November–March. One or two konobas open in Virpazar.
Yes — for at least half a day beyond the boat tour. Old stone bridge, ruined fortress, konobas. Access to Crmnica wine villages.
Pavlova Strana, above Rijeka Crnojevića village. 5-minute drive from the village. Free to visit, small layby.
Big — 391 km² at high water, largest lake in the Balkans. 44 km long, up to 14 km wide. Straddles Montenegro–Albania border.
Different countries, different experiences — this compares them. Ohrid: deeper, older, UNESCO town on the shore. Skadar: shallower, wilder, national park.
Plitvice is a waterfall park; Skadar is a lake. Not really the same thing. Plitvice: waterfalls, boardwalks, crowded. Skadar: open water, boats, birds.

With permission — the lake is a national park. Register with park authority. No flights near nesting bird colonies.
280+ bird species, otters, occasional wild boar in the hills. Dalmatian pelicans (star species). Pygmy cormorants, herons, ibises.
The colony is on the far side — a private full-day boat is the best way. Nesting site is on a remote island. Pelicans fish across the whole lake.
